There are two main parts to the Velappity forms production process:
- Designing the digital form which is used for capturing the actual data on a mobile device
- Tagging the Microsoft Word document to display the digital form data captured.
A digital form is created first using the forms designer and then fields (known as controls) are mapped to where they should appear in the Microsoft Word document template using the Velappity Word plug-in.
A Velappity digital form consist of three levels of items:
- Sections
- Subsections
- Controls
Sections and subsections are merely ways of grouping controls and makes the navigation of data on a mobile device easier. Controls CANNOT appear on a form without being contained within a Section or Subsection.
Controls are used to capture data and there are various types of controls to capture specific types of data. These controls are described below but examples of controls are textboxes for capturing text such as names or notes and camera controls for capturing photographs.
Some controls can be marked as “mandatory” which means they must be entered before the job can be marked as Complete. This ensures that mobile users capture the required data before completing their job.
